TUESDAY MUSICAL
CLUB

The Tuesday Musical Club Scholarship Program was
established
in 1919 to help further the musical education of talented young area
musicians.
Projects to create a fund for this purpose were carried out between
1919 and
1927. In 1927, a committee was appointed to form the policies on
eligibility
and to set up auditions. The first scholarship was awarded in 1928 to
pianist Marilla Kohary,
who used her
award for study in
In 1951, the Club was chosen by Mellon Bank to administer the Enola
M. Lewis
Scholarship Award and, in 1973, by the Pittsburgh Foundation to
administer the
Irene Drob Award. The Club also administers the Margaret Blackburn
Scholarship
